Dear Friends,

September was a devastating month not only here in Texas but in my hometown of Owego, NY. Overnight my small town was flooded and friends and family lost their homes within hours. (Shown in the photo is Theresa’s Mother’s home. The books are from my sister’s best friend’s family bookstore.) Owego is small but strong and has been blessed with neighbors who are giving all that they have to help. Some give a helpful hand while others that are too far away help by donating a bucket and paper towels. I personally am sending a few boxes of clothing to Owegoalong with supplies. However, if you would like to help by donating to my box it will be more then greatly appreciated. Every time I fill a box I will send it on. Thank you so much for your help!

Dear Friends,

With a sad heart I want to bid farewell to everyone. I am leaving The Bridge Boutique to move back home next week. September 13, 14 and 15 will be my last week at The Bridge Boutique. I have had

such a fabulous time meeting and getting to know all of you and I will deeply miss all of you. Thank you so much for the kind, “Fort Worth” welcome and kindness you all gave to me. I feel like I’m leaving more then just Texas, I am leaving friends. I promise it’s not just the weather that is calling me home to Connecticut — I am looking forward to being closer to my family again. I will be back to visit and so I would love to keep in touch with everyone.

This year at Full Figured Fashion Week in NYC: “What inspires the Ming Wang collection?” seemed to be the question of the night. “The real women of the world who are not a size zero and do prefer a more realistic style than what they see in the media today.” The second question always followed: “Where can we buy it?” Trying not to blurt out THE BRIDGE BOUTIQUE, I ran down the list of department stores and suggested the Ming Wang website to help find their nearest boutique location. I realized at this FF-Fashion-Week there are a great deal of women who have no knowledge of the collection. Women wear Ming Wang for all different reasons, but top of the list is that it simply looks and feels so good! Flying home I decided I wanted Ming Wang to be more than just “The Best Kept Secret.”

About NewDay Services for Children and Families

Since 1997, NewDay Services has been providing services through the Family Law Center and Juvenile Justice Center of Tarrant County. In 2010, NewDay was asked by Child Protective Services to develop a collaborative “Family Finding Program” for the children they serve.

The Challenge

Many children languish in foster care because of lost connections to family members.
Over 525,000 children in foster care nationwide.
Over 25,000 children annually “age-out” and are discharged to the streets with no guidance or support system.
2,135 children in Tarrant Co. foster care in 2010.

The Goal

A Family for Every Child
An end to holidays and birthdays with strangers.
An end to frequent changes in schools, teachers and friends.
An end to loneliness.
A new beginning with family. Finally, a sense of “belonging”.

As adults, we think that a child removed from abuse/neglect prevents a crisis.

Fort Worth boutique listens to it’s customers, sets national styles

The photographer lowered his camera for a moment and smiled at the group of women in front of him. “You look like you’re on America’s Next Top Model” he shouted, whipping his camera back into position to fire off a few more photos as the women laughed.

This was no reality show, however, and these women weren’t wispy ingénues competing for a chance to work a Fashion Week runway. This was real life, and these were real women — mothers, wives, business owners and corporate types, many from Fort Worth. All 16 of them had agreed to donate their summer day to help create a national marketing campaign for a clothing company called Ming Wang. It’s the company’s first use of nonprofessional models.
